The country’s Pop Guru Azam Khan has passed away Sunday morning at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) after a prolonged fight with cancer. He was 62.
Khan suffered a massive cardiac arrest around 9:30am and his life support system was taken off at around 10:20am, Brig Gen Mehboobul Haque, commandant of Dhaka CMH, told The Daily Star.
The freedom fighter, who was suffering from oral cancer, was admitted to Square Hospital on May 22. He was given life support later as his condition deteriorated.
With his health condition being unimproved, Azam Khan was moved to Dhaka CMH June 1 night.

Pop guru and freedom fighter Azam Khan has been kept on life support at the city’s Square Hospital.
The viagra canadian pharmacy hospital authorities told The Daily Star that he was put on life support at the Intensive Care Unit on Friday as his condition seriously deteriorated.
The 62-year-old pop legend was admitted to the hospital on May 22.
Azam Khan who had been suffering from oral cancer went to Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore last year for better treatment.

'Baul Samrat' Shah Abdul Karim died of old-age complications on Saturday at the age of 93.
Dr Sujan Bose of Noor Jahan Poly Clinic in Sylhet city said the legendary poet and singer, with over a thousands folk songs to his name, died at 7:58am.
Karim's only son Shah Noor Jalal told bdnews24.com at 9:30pm on Friday that his father had been on life support since noon after his health worsened in the morning.
Karim was admitted to the clinic on Sept 3.
"He has been suffering from respiratory problems, lung infection and other old-age diseases," his doctor Faisal Ahmed said to bdnews24.com.

Its sad to hear that Syd Barrett, the co-founder of legendary Pink Floyd has died. He was one of the founder with Roger Waters and was their first lead guitarist. Gilmour came instead of him later when he left the band for his health reasons. He had some diabetic problems and was also addicted to drugs like LSD. However, he will always remain as an influence on his Floyd bandmates, who previously dedicated the song "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" and the 1975 album "Wish You Were Here" to him.
